Adoption of cloud based bookkeeping software has already taken automation a big step forward. However, a significant chunk of recurring decisions are still made manually. These are the decisions that we set out to automate. Our AI learns to emulate accountant decision making, allowing us to further push the boundaries of bookkeeping automation. When the AI is uncertain, or accuracy is paramount, the AI decision is manually controlled by a human accountant.

The low-hanging fruits in bookkeeping automation have already been picked. However, accountants still spend valuable hours each day with routine, repetitive, and, perhaps worst of all, boring tasks. Recently, many relevant technologies have made the leap from promising tech demos to production-grade frameworks, including robust computer vision models, scalable layered neural networks, and powerful anomaly detection algorithms.
We think that the technological base is now ripe for ending repetitive labor in bookkeeping, if implemented properly in a human-machine workflow. We’re building the next iteration of AI-driven bookkeeping automation to solve these challenges, both because we think creative humans should do creative human things and because these technologies fascinate us.
